Australia continued its impressive run of gold medals on day 11 of the Paris Olympics, but this one had a twist that will go down in history.
World record for Watson
USA’s Sam Watson has set a new world record in the speed climbing with a time of 4.75s.
The American was facing team mate in the elimination heats, and blitzed past for a new world record.
Haohao doesn’t have it
The youngest competitor’s campaign in the women’s park skateboarding has come to an end.
China’s Zheng Haohao is just 11-years-old and competing in the Olympics, she scored well on her first run with a 63.19 but faultered on the next two attempts.
Sailors slump to eighth
After leading the pack to start the race, the WA pari Jerwood and Nicholas ended their mixed dinghy heat in eighth place.
The finish drops them to ninth on the standings with a score of 47, leaving ground to cover in the final heat race that starts at 8.30pm.
Just six points seperates fifth and ninth place.
Aussies in sync
The Australian quartet in the canoe fours 500m sprint have blitzed the quarter final race, finishing in first place with a time of 1:19.39.
They have booked a spot in tomorrows semi’s, joining their sister team.
Duo have a leg up
The WA duo of Nia Jerwood and Conor Nicholas enter the second leg of their mixed dinghy heat in the lead.
If they can maintain pace, it will greatly improve their chances of racing for a medal tomorrow.
McEntyre throws it away
25-year-old javelin thrower Cameron McEntyre didn’t have the distance in the men’s qualification heats.
His best of 81.18m finished ninth in the group, 1.73m behind the sixth place cut off.
Jerwood & Nicholas set sail
WA pair Nia Jerwood and Conor Nicholas have set sail in the eighth race of the mixed dinghy series.
The duo need good scores in the final two heats, after race 10 was canned, to move into a spot for the medal race.

Skateboarders Arisa Trew and Ruby Trew (not related) are just about ready to go in the women’s park prelim heats.
The Aussie pair will battle it out for a spot in the final.
At just 14, Arisa is the youngest on the team.
Germans slay the Greek giants
Germany have advanced past Greece in the quarter-final match of the men’s basketball, getting past the Greeks 76-63.
The reigning FIBA champions had no trouble handling the side that defeated Australia on Friday.
The Boomers match against Serbia gets underway at 8.30pm, with the green and gold set with a tall task against Nikola Jokic.

The first set of prelim heats in the women’s park skateboarding is underway, and Aussie pair Arisa Trew and Ruby Trew - not related - are looking to do damage.
