Paris Olympics 2024: Mackenzie Little, Jessica Hull among Aussies in medal hunt for track and field events

Jessica Hull lived up to the hype as she produced a rare Aussie track medal on the penultimate day of the Paris Olympics.
Recap all the action from the penultimate day in Paris in our live blog.
Trouble for Australia
Spain score the first of the third and lead the Stingers 4-2.
Bea Ortiz gets her first of the game.
Spain lead Australia
It’s the halfway point of the women’s water polo gold medal match.
Spain lead Australia 3-2 in a low-scoring affair.
Alice Williams have both goals for the Stingers, while Elena Ruiz Barril, Macia Garcia Godoy and Paula Leiton Arrones have a goal apiece for Spain.

Spain score!
Macia Garcia Godoy scores and Spain are 3-2.
The Spainard took advantage of captain Zoe Arancini being out of the pool.
Green into a tie for second!
A birdie on hole 14 has Hannah Green back into possession of second spot, alongside Germany’s Esther Henseleit at six under par.
Her iron play has been excellent today, with her success on the hole the result of a brilliant second shot.
New Zealand’s Lydia Ko looks a lock for gold, sitting five shots ahead through 11 holes.
Stingers all square
Alice Williams nailed the second goal for Australia to tie things up with Spain.
It’s all square in the gold medal match with just six minutes to go in the 2nd.
Oh no Cass!
A big miss from Cassiel Rousseau on his fourth dive of six, being far from his best in his back-facing three-and-a-half somersault showing.
The score of 61.2 is his first below 70 in Paris so far.
Some other misses means he has only dropped down to fifth but he finds himself more than 60 points off the gold medal spot and 20 away from bronze.

Spain 2-2 Stingers
Our Stingers will go into quarter-time of the water polo gold medal match tied at 2-all courtesy of another Williams goal right on the buzzer.
Keepers at both ends have been forced into some big saves.
Hannah back in the medal places
Hannah Green again made par on hole 13 but other results have seen her get up into a five-way tie for the bronze medal spot.
In a quirk of Olympic golf, a playoff will take place in the event of a tie for any position, rather than just first.
Stingers strike first
A penalty for the Stingers has got them on the board first in the women’s water polo final, with Alice Williams finding the back of the net.
But Spain have quickly responded through Paula Leiton Arrones.
Come on Cass
Cassiel’s Rousseau’s inward third dive was well executed and given a 76.8 by the judges.
But the the display of diving has been unbelievable so far in this final, meaning he currently finds himself outside the medal places in fifth.
