Her 11-year-old son, Julian, was airlifted from the scene of the crash to St. Louis Children’s hospital where he was left fighting for life.
He is now recovering in the intensive care unit after sustaining critical injuries including head trauma, a collapsed lung, and head and spine fractures.
The loss was made even more devastating by the fact Ms Grelle became the main provider for the family after her husband, Dave Grelle, was almost killed in a crash ten years ago and left unable to work due to his injuries.
Family friend Juliana Rodas has set up a GoFundMe appeal in a bid to help financially support the Grelle’s during the devastating time.
Ms Rodas also used the campaign to pay tribute to the “brilliant, driven and passionate” business woman.
“Kasey was a force — brilliant, driven, and passionate, with an uncanny ability to connect deeply with everyone she met,” Ms Rodas wrote in the GoFundMe statement.
“She founded Aux Insights, an international marketing consulting company, and served as CEO. But nothing made her prouder than being a mom.”
In update on Julian’s condition, Ms Rodas said he “had been cracking jokes with friends, watching the Cardinals, and tracking his March Madness bracket from his hospital bed.”
