Scuba diver: Woman in her 50s dies in suspected drowning at Nelson Bay, NSW

A scuba diver has died after being pulled from the water in a suspected drowning in the NSW Hunter Region.
Emergency services were called to Fly Point at Nelson Bay about 11am on Saturday after reports a woman diver was in trouble in the water.
Officers from the marine area command and raptor squad attended the scene.

The diver – a woman believed to be aged in her 50s – was pulled from the water unresponsive and was treated by paramedics.
She was taken to Tomaree Community Hospital in a critical condition but died on the way to hospital.
The woman is yet to be formally identified.
“Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident,” a police statement read.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
