“I was told he had planned to propose to me the day he passed, however, his life was cut too short and I didn’t have the chance to say the easiest yes I could have said,” Kassab said.
“We had so much planned for the future, however, the precious memories we shared will never be lost within me.”
Kassab said Pollina was loved by many and left an “indelible mark on her heart”.
“I will never be able to move past this, from life to death he was my person, he will always be my forever,” she said.
Pollina’s best friend Youssef Soueid described the teenager as a “beautiful boy” who wouldn’t hurt a fly.
“I know (he’s) in a better place and he’s up there looking down on me and I’m so grateful for him for (and) what he has done for me,” he said.
Pollina migrated to Australia from Italy with his family 10 years ago.
He worked as a concrete pumper, with his former colleagues telling 7NEWS he loved his job.
Police allege the BMW was one of two vehicles stolen from a Pascoe Vale South property about an hour before the crash.
CCTV footage shows two occupants of the BMW running away, with a 16-year-old boy believed to have been a passenger later arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
He was released pending further inquiries while the driver remains on the run.
Anyone with any information about the crash has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
