A magnificent riverfront mansion in Toorak, owned by a former hardware supremo’s wife, has hit the market with a price guide of $50 to $55 million.

The property is presently owned by Sarah Laidlaw, the wife of former Mitre 10 boss Mark Laidlaw.

Mr Laidlaw spent 10 years as the chief executive officer of hardware company Mitre 10. He then went on to serve as chairman of Total Tools from 2020 until 2023. Property records show the Laidlaws purchased the property, which is held in Ms Laidlaw’s name, in 2013 for $6.1 million.

The four-bedroom home occupies an enviable position on Edzell Avenue with sweeping views of the Yarra and private river access. Built in the 1920s, the property has undergone a stunning reimagining with Andrew Parr of SJB Architects at the helm.
