Yeronga bushland retreat on Brisbane River for sale
With a view of the surrounding bushland and the flowing river, this house on first glance seems to be a perfect countryside retreat.
However. this riverfront “oasis” which has the Brisbane River in its backyard and kookaburras as its neighbours is in fact in the suburb of Yeronga in the Queensland capital.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom house at 47 Riverview Place has only ever been owned by Jan and Michael Tyrrell, who built it more than 18 years ago as their family home.

That land has since been developed, with the Tyrrell’s bringing on board an architect to take the creative reigns for their 1175sqm home.
The end product is a sprawling two-storey house with a swimming pool, back deck and deep-water access for boats.
It also holds many happy memories for the Tyrrells and is where one of their two daughters was married.
“She got married at our place, arrived by boat and came up wandering through the garden on the path. There was a deck there at one stage, in front of the pool, and they got married there,” Mrs Tyrrell said.
“We have loved it, living in the river, it’s the most secluded place you’ve ever come across.
When you hear the kookaburras and cockatoos it’s wonderful. We’ve had birds fly into the house.”
Mrs Tyrrell’s favourite area in the house is the main bedroom upstairs.
“The way it’s been built with floor to ceiling windows that goes out onto the upstairs deck.
“You’re lying in bed and feel like you’re actually in the water.”
Both is their 70s, Mr Tyrrell - who owns his own business - and Mrs Tyrrell, a midwife, feel it’s time to downsize, although they hope to stay in the area.
Selling agent Drew Davies of Place Ascot said the property was already proving to be popular with buyers.
Despite being right on the river, the home is elevated making it flood free, a huge drawcard for buyers looking in the area.
“They’re few and far between, especially when paired with the fact that this property is “extremely private from neighbours, you feel like you’re in your own oasis,” he said.
“There’s been a huge increase in the number of buyers at the luxury end of the market.
“Local buyers are giving interstaters a run for their money.”
The property goes to auction at 1pm, Saturday, May 11.
