Pick 33 (Port Adelaide)

Jack Whitlock finally joins his brother in the AFL.

The key forward heads to the Power and could be a replacement for Charlie Dixon.

He had a great vertical jump at testing and is rated as having high footy IQ.

And he stands at 200cm.

Pick 32 (St Kilda)

James Barrat is headed to the Saints.

Here is down as a tall defender after adapting to that role in 2024.

He can also go forward and won a best and fairest award in 2024.

For a tall man he also has a highly-rated kick.

Pick 31 (Western Bulldogs)

The Dogs have gone for pacey forward Josh Dolan.

He missed testing with injury but the Bulldogs were keen on him.

Dolan is another Sandringham product, the eighth to be taken in this draft.

Pick 30 (West Coast)

West Coast’s second draftee is Jobe Shanahan.

The tall forward was projected to be a top-20 pick and the fact he has slipped this far is likely what prompted the Eagles to take him.

He will be a developing forward behind Oscar Allan and Jake Waterman.

The big Victorian is also a very strong mark which the Eagles like.

Pick 29 (Western Bulldogs)

Geelong Falcons rebounding defender Lachie Jaques is the next off the board.

He has good wraps on his leadership potential and was an underage All-Australian.

He will need to bulk up to handle AFL but can be played freely off half-back.

Pick 28 (Richmond)

Richmond has taken another tall player with Thomas Sims.

He will be a project player who can play forward and in the ruck.

He did kick a bag of seven in 2024 and played for Vic Metro.

Sims may take a few seasons to reach AFL level but he has a good talent base.

Who is still on the table?

After an action-packed opening night filled with shock bolters, pick swaps and bold bids, there is still plenty of highly touted talent available ahead of the second round.

Clubs are reportedly clamouring for Richmond’s pick 28, the opening selection of the second night, with key forward Jobe Shanahan still available.

West Coast will hope the Bendigo Pioneers product slides to them at pick 30, the third selection of round two.

Another tall, Jack Whitlock, is also still on the table after his twin brother Matt was the final selection of round one.

Medium forward Jasper Alger and midfielder Christian Morales are the other sliders still up for grabs.

Who will be the first WA star to go on day 2?

Two West Aussies have already been taken in this year’s national draft, with Claremont speedster Cody Angove a shock bolter on Wednesday.

Taken with pick 24, Angove joined top WA prospect Bo Allan after the WA captain was swooped on by West Coast with pick 16.

Angove, 18, revealed to The West Australian he “cried for 10-15 minutes” after his name was unexpectedly read out.

Meanwhile, Fremantle snared classy Victorian midfielder Murphy Reid with their opening selection, pick 17.
