Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) produced a spirited win on an emotional day against Euro-Yroke (St Kilda) after the sudden passing of Adam Selwood.

Selwood’s death at just 41 rocked the AFL and WA football worlds and the Eagles paid tribute to the former premiership player against the Saints.

It was a fitting time for the club to get their breakthrough win for 2025 as co-captain Oscar Allen returned to the field and the forward line.

And they played one of their best halves of the season to give themselves a winning feeling.

Recap all of the action from our blog.

Soak it in

The Eagles are reveling in the drought-buster now.

Waterman monsters another goal from outside 50 and the fans are starting to enjoy life a little bit more.

281 days of pain finally has a small relief.

Ross Lyon looks deflated in the Saints’ box.

Ton up

Hewett sinks another long-range set shot for Waalitj Marawar after a perfect touch kick from Ryan on his left.

The Eagles have reached triple figures after the Saints grabbed two quick ones.

It’s done!

Ryan has called game!

He gets one snapped through from the pocket and then steals one from a Saints defender to walk through an easy goal.

Stage is set!

Williams takes a huge clunk and kicks the set shot to keep the margin at 23 points with just under eight minutes to play.

It was a smart kick in from Hunt who played on and ran his full measure before launching the ball over the congestion.

Steadier

Sharman reduced the margin to 15 but the Eagles did not back down and grab the momentum back.

They missed two shots but former Tiger Graham settles the nerves to convert his set shot.

It’s also his first as an Eagle!

Higgins give the visitor’s the first goal of the last term with another quick transition.

The Eagles looked on for another goal but couldn’t work it out and got burned the other way.

Flying Harley

The pump up has worked!

Reid takes a screamer on the head of Allen and then picks his co-captian off the floor.

The kick inside 50 was not so good but take the good with the bad.

Pump up!

Assistant coach Luke Shuey went straight to Harley Reid and gave him a massive pump up before the first bounce of the last quarter.

And he goes straight into the first centre contest.

THREE-QUARTER TIME: Waalitj Marawar 70, Euro-Yroke 42

The Eagles are desperate for a win today and are starting to play with attitude.

Hough is laying his body into Marshall while tackles are being laid to hurt.

It’s a far cry from the performances they have been dishing out for much of the year.

The Saints have had a lot of the ball but their usage has been very poor and turnovers have stuffed them all day.

Waalitj Marawar have not won in 281 days and have seven players who have never tasted victory as an Eagle, three have never won a game.

Is today the day?
