“I jumped over two fences to get to my parents, which wasn’t a great idea because my legs are cooked now,” he says.

“I tore my quad nine weeks ago, so not an ideal lead-up but completed five days of racing so can’t have been that bad.”

Brooke Buschkuehl jumped 6.80m in her first attempt and couldn’t quite improve on her final one with 6.79m to finish third.

He’s had to wait a fair while to get in action but easily clears his opening vault of 5.40m.

“I don’t think I’ve ever run quite that scared in my life, and I was just running for that line,” Browning says.

“Four years ago I tripped over and got the team DQ’d in the heats, and I had to carry that burden, and that’s the best run of my career.”

“I’m really happy with that running in lane eight your completely blind,” Law says.

“Josh and I knew we were going to have to stretch it out if we wanted gold, and we just sent it,” Kennedy says.

“Credit to everyone who’s helped us and it just goes to show we’re doing something right.”

She secured it with a season’s best 61.88m in her first throw which no one else came close to.

She was one of just two finalists to clear the 60m mark.

Torrie Lewis was flying home but couldn’t quite chase down Trinidad and Tobago for bronze.

Their changeovers weren’t quite as clean as the men’s, and that’s the difference as they miss out by 0.02s

“It’s been incredible. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I think we had a really good race and that’s all you can ask for,” Monique Hanlon says.

“It was really close I just didn’t have the legs for that last little bit,” Lewis says.
