Cricket: Day 1 in Adelaide had no shortage of talking points - so what will Day 2 bring?

Australia resume at 8-326, but it could have been a better position for England had a DRS error not gone against them to help Alex Carey notch a ton.

The tourists will be looking to wrap up two quick wickets and then bat for a long chunk of time - in forecast 37C heat - to put the pressure back on the home side.

Relive the day in our blog below!

28th Over - ENG 4-98

Cummins replaces Lyon after his lengthy spell.

He’s outside off before dropping short, which Stokes leaves alone.

Close! Stokes is a little late on one and it almost bounces back onto his stumps but no harm done.

A maiden

27th Over - ENG 4-97

Boland continues.

He’s trying to get the ball moving into Brook and past his defence.

He gets one to point off the back foot.

Overpitches again to Stokes who whips three through mid-wicket.

Driven hard and gets past a diving Green at gully for two.

26th Over - ENG 4-92

Lyon to Brook who inside edges one through his legs.

He gets one backward of square, the only run from the over.

25th Over - ENG 4-91

Boland replaces Starc. It’s 39 degrees so expect short spells from the quicks.

Brook gets a quick single wide of mid-on. Australia were in a similar hole in their first innings and England will know this is still a good batting strip if they can wear down the bowlers in the heat.

FOUR! Overpitched and Stokes just leans on it to push it down the ground.

24th Over - ENG 4-86

Brook works another single off the pads from Lyon.

Marnus is being relentless with the chat from slip.

Just one from it.

23rd Over - ENG 4-85

Looks like they’re taking extra drink breaks because of the heat.

Starc to Brook he goes for a big drive and gets past Green at gully on the bounce for one.

Nasty! Short ball and Stokes takes his eyes off it and he’s smacked on the back of the helmet near the stem guard. Starc checks if he’s ok and we’ll have a concussion check.

He’s fine to continue as he works the full ball off the pads for one.

Brook drops and runs a quick single to finish.

22nd Over - ENG 4-81

More singles for Brook as he gets one forward of square.

Stokes defends the rest

21st Over - ENG 4-81

Brook is struck on the body as he picks up a leg-bye awkwardly trying to fend away the short ball.

Green fields well in the gully to keep Stokes on strike.

Starc is on a nice line outside off but Stokes is comfortable defending them so far.

20th Over - ENG 4-80

Brook works another single to deep mid-on, surely they bring that man up to make him go over the top.

Stokes punches one to the point.

Brook drives one to point. Three from it

19th Over - ENG 4-77

A short burst from Cummins as Starc replaces him.

Has gotten Stokes 11 times in Test cricket.

On the pads, and he turns it through midwicket for three.

Full ball as Brook pushes one to long-off.

Stokes defends the rest
