Linn reaches running stage

Aussie Sophie Linn is more than a minute behind the lead in the women’s triathlon after completing the cycling leg.

She’ll be looking to make up ground in the 10km run, where Switzerland’s Julie Derron leads a pack of seven vying for top spot.

Shooting to feature Aussies

Australia is in action in both the men’s and women’s shooting events.

Jack Rossiter and Dane Sampson are in action in the men’s 50m rifle qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Penny Smith and Catherine Skinner are competing in the trap event.

Triathlon passes the hour mark

An hour in to the women’s triathlon, a leading pack of 10 has been established 28km into the cycling stage.

Aussie Sophie Linn is in the pack behind, about a minute off the pace of the leaders.

ICYMI: McKeown claims gold while Aussie men secure bronze in the pool on day four

Day four was highlighted by Kaylee McKeown hunting down USA rival Regan Smith in the last 25 metres to claim gold in the 100m backstroke.

The men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team was also successful, taking out bronze.

But a few Aussie teams felt the wrath of Canada outside the pool.

Aussies underway in triathlon

The first event of the day is the women’s triathlon, with a couple of Aussies in the hunt.

Sophie Linn and Natalie van Coevorden are in the middle of the pack in the cycling stage, with Bermuda’s Flora Duffy leading all comers.

Welcome to day five!

Hello and welcome to our Olympics coverage for day five!

Australia is set for a big day in the pool, where it will be looking to add to their medal tally for the Games.

Kaylee McKeown’s efforts in the 100m backstroke last night marked the sixth gold medal for the nation, while Mollie O’Callaghan, Kyle Chalmers, and Zac Stubblety-Cook are all chances to add more later tonight.

The Aussie Stingers will be in action in the water polo against the Netherlands, while our women’s rowing pair will be looking to book their spot in the final.

Japan leads the tally overall, with seven gold to its name, with China and the Aussies tied for second with six.

Host nation France is next with five, tied with South Korea.
