An Australian surfer has been rescued from drowning in ‘dangerous and crazy’ Olympics surfing storm.

It’s day five of the Paris Olympic Games and athletes are braving the river Seine as the first triathlons get underway.

The USA has put up a good fight so far despite the early blow from Australia.

Czech Republic’s Iveta Miculycova crashes in the opening seconds of her second run and Natalya Diehm still has one hand on the silver medal with four competitors left.

Moon-flipping to a medal?

Natalya Diehm started her second and final run of the wmone’s BMX park freestyle final in scintelating style with a jaw-dropping front flip on her way to a cracking score of 87.70.

Out of the running for a gold medal, Diehm will watch on nervously for the final seven riders, defending a best score of 88.80

Natalya Diehm in mix for medal

BMX star Natalya Diehm is in line for a medal in the women’s park freestyle final after posting the second highest score through the opening round.

She received a massive boost to her medal credentials with five-time world champion and Tokyo silver medallist Hannah Roberts shockingly crashing in her opening run.

Diehm’s score of 88.80 is just shy of China’s Yawen Deng (92.50), who leads with one round to go.

On Olympic debut, the Perth boy scored 69.953 in the dressage qualifiers.

He won’t get into the individual finals with that but it’s a great first run and keeps Australia in touch for a team medal.

Earlier today Jayden Brownscored 68.991 for Australia with Simone Pearcestill to come in today’s heats.

Australia’s Natalya Diehm posts a score of 88.80 in her opening women’s park freestyle final run to sit at the top of the standings halfway through the opening round.

Hockeyroos off to a flyer

The Hockeyroos have gotten off to the perfect start as they look for their third straight victory of their Olympic campaign against USA.

Renee Taylor scored in the opening minutes to put them 1-0 with win solidifying their spot in the top two of Pool B.

They are looking to continue their unbeaten start to this Olympics as they take on the USA.

We’re only a couple minutes in but Renee Taylor has already slotted one home to give the Aussies an early 1-0 lead.

Parker books spot in quarter finals

Caitlin Parker was at her punishing best in her round of 16 bout with Mexico’s Citalli Vanessa Ortiz to advance through to the quarter finals.

Declared the unanimous winner on a points decision, Parker has booked a spot in the next round with with a dominant 5-0 win.

Pounding Parker on verge of quarters

Caitlin Parker is in the “box” seat for a quarter final berth against Mexico’s Citalli Vanessa Ortiz.

Parker holds a 4-1 lead heading into the final round.
