Interesting changes
The West’s gun football writer Ben Smith has some concerns over the suite of changes we saw just before the hour mark ...
The equation
The Matildas need to score here to have any sureity over there spot.
They can go through to the next round if they finish as one of the two best third-place finishers. Brazil are third in their group with three points but a better goal difference than the Aussies have right now.
Canada - who lost six points over this week’s drone saga - are on zero points with a positive goal difference and Colombia to play.
There’s a “cooling break” happening now, where you’d hope the message is to go all out to score here.

It’s an Aussie miss
Mollie O’Callaghan left too much to do too late and her big back end wasn’t quite enough. She missed out by 0.01 seconds!
Shayna Jack was in a better position, but also misses out on a medal and Swedish veteran Sarah Sjoestroem has won it.
The field was so even and the 30-year-old has got it at the touch ahead of Tori Huske and Siobhan Haughey.
It’s fourth for Mollie and fifth for Shayna.
Here we go!
This is massive. The women’s 100m freestyle, with two very strong Aussie hopes.
Strap in!
Swimming preview
We’re just about to watch our new golden girl, Mollie O’Callaghan in her pet event - the blue riband 100m.
It’s another bumper night in the pool, with Kyle Chalmers also up in the same event for mens and a head-to-head battle looming between Zac Stubblety-Cook and France’s face of the game Leon Marchand in the 200m backstroke.
The La Defence Arena is absolutely pumping.
Shayna Jack’s redemption story could be complete if she medals in this race. There’s a real chance her and O’Callaghan are right at the top.
The legendary Katie Ledecky is the face of 1500m after this as well. Big night!
Tony G swinging changes
Three changes before the hour mark from Tony Gustavsson is UNHEARD OF!
But he’s willing to try some things here.
Michelle Hayman is coming on, expect her to fill a central role up front.
Then Emily van Egmond in place of Katrina Gorry in an odd move that means both of his two central midfielders are off.
Tony G was unhappy with what was about to go up on the fourt official’s board as well. He’s already on a yellow and having ... a normal one.

Checking in with Popyrin
After serving for the set at one stage, Alexei Popyrin coughed up the first to German star Alexander Zverev.
He’s on the brink all of a sudden, now an early break down in the second too.
Let’s hope he can stick fat here.
Raso shot
Australia were able to jump on a loose ball in the middle of the park and go forward through Mary Fowler, she pushed a ball wide to Hayley Raso who could produce only a meek shot, which was snapped up comfortably by the ‘keeper.

Kennedy heads over
Alanna Kennedy stands up defensively, heading a geniune missile from Rose Lavelle over Mackenzie Arnold’s goal and away for a corner.
Australia are still under siege here and Girma blazed one wide after the ball fell to her from the corner.

A little nugget
Recognise the last name of the USA’s goalscorer from the first half?
Trinity Rodman is the daughter of Chicago Bulls championship-winner and legendary NBA enforcer Dennis.
And it wouldn’t be a Rodman without some coloured hair.
