An Australian surfer has been rescued from drowning in ‘dangerous and crazy’ Olympics surfing storm.

It’s day five of the Paris Olympic Games and athletes are braving the river Seine as the first triathlons get underway.

Time to beat

Germany’s Elena Lilik may be the one to beat in the canoe slalom final, recording clearly the fastest time so far and nearly three seconds quicker than Jess Fox’s semifinal time.

Matt Ebden and Peers are looking good after taking the first set in a tiebreaker 7-2.

They’ve just broken serve in the second set to be up 2-0 in their quarter-final.

Smith reflects on emotional ride to bronze

“It’s absolutely phenomenal I’m pretty emotional about it,” a teary Smith said.

“My parents always say to me to keep strong and keep going forward and I had to do it the hard way but to come away with the bronze is just phenomenal.

“Everyone who stuck by me it means a lot and I love you all.”

Rain delay halts Aussie doubles charge

Fox qualifies for C1 final

In her favoured event, Jess Fox powered through the rapids on her way the second quickest time ahead of the final later tonight.

Fox was near faultless in her semifinal run and posted and stopped the clock at 1min06.08sec.

Gabriela Satkova looks to be the biggest challenger with the Czech beating Fox in the heats and the semifinal.

Fox on the prowl for more gold

Australia’s flag bearer Jess Fox is moments away from her semifinal run in the canoe slalom.

Fox is hoping to qualfiy for the final and add another gold medal to her collection following on from the K1 gold she earlier in the Games.

Penny Smith’s bronze medal

Australian trap shooter Penny Smith has won Australia’s 13th medal after a thrilling final.

Smith made each of the three cuts before bowing out in the last round to clinch the bronze medal.

Penny Smith is tied in the silver medal position and with five shots left, the left-hander will walk away with medal draped around her neck.

Penny Smith has made the third cut and is up into the bronze medal position after a dead-eye second round hitting eight of the 10 targets.
