Aussie Natalya Diehm has taken home Australia’s first-ever women’s BMX freestyle medal, claiming bronze after holding on tight in a thrilling final.

Diehm hands BMX baton to Martin
“Belief and trust” was the catalyst for bronze medal-winning Australian Natalya Diehm who now throws over the to Australia’s other medal hope in the BMX arena, Logan Martin.
High drama in the women’s trap
Spain’s Mar Molné Magriña finished top with 123 but second to fifth were tied on 122 while sixth through ninth, which included Australia’s Penny Smith were tied on 121 resulting in a six-person shoot-off.
Smith held her nerve to qualify for the final in the sixth and final spot.

Djokovic fights through
Having breazed through his opening two matches, Novak Djokovic was met by a spirited fight from German Dominik Koepfer in his round three match.
The determined German forced a tie-breaker in the opening set but the Serbian legend proved too strong before clinching the second in style to win 7-5, 6-3.
Natalya Diehm claims bronze
After a nervous wait watching her rivals attempt to claim a medal, Natalya Diehm holds on for bronze.
Diehm’s first run score was her best with 88.80 which was enough to hold off her rivals, including five-time world champion and Tokyo silver medallist Hannah Roberts.
Diehm slides to third
Still on the podium, Diehm has slipped from second after a sensational run from American Perris Benegas, who scored 90.70.
Tokyo silver medallist Hannah Roberts is the only one now who can knock our Aussie out of medal contention.
