Australia absorbed the pressure and a steal broke the game open.

Dowling got through the traffic before unleashing Lawson who broke the line and scored a fantastic try.

Third time’s the charm for Aussies

Australia have survived a scare against China, taking a 2-1 win in the women’s beach volleyball.

Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar were made to work for their victory, getting the win with the third match point in the third set.

The pair’s attention moves to the Tuesday when they take on the USA in a rematch of the final from Tokyo.

Off to a third set in women’s beach volleyball

China has taken the second set in their clash against Australia.

After an even start to the second, China was able to pull away with some good play, taking it out 21-14.

With scores level at one set each, Australia will have to dig deep to take the win.

It’s a close game, but China have rallied after falling in the first set, to lead 16-11 in the second so far.

Aussies take first set against China

Australia has taken the early advantage against China in the women’s beach volleyball.

Both sides had plenty of experience going in, and it was on full display as both teams attempted to get on top.

China was able to save a set point, but the Aussies proved too strong, taking the first set 22-20.

Very early medal tally

Australia has won one of just three gold medals awarded so far.

China has won the other two.

It leaves Australia fourth on the medal tally, with Great Britain and the USA each having one silver and one bronze medal.
