Mixed day on the green
Day three has proven the best of the Games so far for golfer Hannah Green, who has handed in her card at six under par — the best of anyone to take to the green Le Golf National today.
She currently sits in a tie for eighth with the stragglers currently working their way through the final holes.
Meanwhile, compatriot Minjee Lee is tied for 19th after shooting one under today.
Over to the weightlifting
Australian Kyle Bruce is currently sitting seventh in the men’s 89kg weightlifting.
‘Bruce Almighty’ has been in the mix on Olympic debut but a more experienced field has muscled him out.
Hear from Keeney
Maddison Keeney says she is “so pleased” to Australia’s first ever 3m springboard medal and she “can’t believe it”.
“Just to have it happen and nothing go wrong for me is more of a relief than anything,” she told Channel Nine.
Through adversity
Maddison Keeney overcame all sorts of adversity, including missing the Tokyo Games, to win the silver medal.
History made
Maddison Keeney’s silver medal in the 3m springboard is Australia’s first ever medal in the discipline.
She has been full of joy after sealing the deal, dancing a jig on the spot alongside the two Chinese divers who claimed gold and bronze.
Silver for Maddison Keeney!
Absolutely brilliant from Keeney! Saving her most difficult dive for last, she threw two twists into her forward-facing effort to be scored at a 78.2.
She looked to be emotional after completing the dive but showed no signs of letting the pressure affect her on the board.
China’s Yiwen Chen has taken home the gold, proving too good for the field and finishing 32.9 points in front.
It’s all on the line
Maddison Keeney will need to execute her final dive to make sure she seals a medal.
She is about to take to the board.
Clutch Keeney
Competitors were closing on Maddison Keeney’s silver medal spot but she has kept her cool.
Her penultimate effort has proven her best so far — a brilliant forward-facing dive producing a score of 74.4.
She is 10 points clear of the bronze medal but still trails Chen by more than 30 points for gold.
Back to the pool
Maddison Keeney is in the box seat for a silver medal, with her third dive — an inward two-and-a-half somersault effort — of five scored at a 55.5.
But reeling in Chen, who sits more than 30 points in front, for the gold may prove a bridge too far.
Richardson through to the final!
He’s done it! Matthew Richardson has gone through to the final of the track cycling individual sprint by winning his second heat over Jeffrey Hoogland of the Netherlands.
He started from behind and, after the cat and mouse game of the event lasted longer than normal, again reeled in his opponent coming around the final bend.
His opponent in the final, which is slated to start just after midnight, will be another Dutch rider in Harrie Lavreysen.
