Leon loses
Australia’s Leon Sejranovic has suffered a a defeat in his round of 16 taekwondo clash with Tunisia’s Firas Katoussi.
He will be disappointed with the early exit after winning bronze at last year’s world championships but the 22-year-old has plenty of Olympics in front of him.
The canoe sprint run down
Australia’s men’s canoe sprint pair of Jean van der Westhuyzen and Tom Green will come into the gold medal race full of confidence, having recorded the fastest time so far with a 1min26.85sec effort in their semifinal.
Our women’s duo of Ella Beere and Aly Bull scraped through into the final with a fourth-placed finish in their semifinal.
Taekwondo gets going
Leon Sejranovic’s round of 16 men’s 80kg taekwondo clash against Tunisia’s Firas Katoussi is under way.
Heading into round three, the Australian trails 2-0.
Heating up
The next few hours will be big for our Australian athletes with plenty of gold medals on the line.
The 500m canoe sprint finals are about an hour away where we will have teams in both the men’s and women’s races before Maddison Keeney takes on the diving 3m springboard final at 9pm.
Minjee underway
Minjee Lee has kicked off her third round at Le Golf National.
Currently in a tie for 20th and needing to make up ground after shooting two over par yesterday, she has made par on the first two holes.
Finding rhythm
The Aussies are taking the floor in the Rhythmic Gymnastics but have very stiff competition.
China are the favourites while the European nations will also be very strong.
Dynamic Duo smash semi
The men’s pairs 500m canoe sprint team of Jean van der Westhuyzen and Tom Green have smashed their semifinal race.
The Australian pair had a comfortbale lead early and held on for the final straight - taking the semi win in a time of 1.26min.
Rousseau on the up
After the third round of jumps in the men’s 10m springboard prelim’s, Australia’s Cassiel Rousseau is sitting in sixth position with a 224.01.
His teammate Jaxon Bowshire has room to improve with a score of 186.05.

Hannah hits off
Aussie golfer Hannah Green is off and running, finally teeing off as she looks to improve her standings.
She hit a bogey on the opening hole to put her total at four above par - 35th on the standings.
